about.

NALSAR Forums was devised by the SBC Academic Committee during the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020, where an impending virtual semester forced everyone to accept that access to the university’s resources would be through online means.
Launching on June 30, 2020, this online discussion board provided a platform for faculty to interact with students by posting online class recordings, sharing reading material, and facilitating two-way communication. Also provided as an Android application, it became the primary hub for students to meet all their academic requirements, ensuring seamless access to coursework, discussions, and essential university updates. Additionally, it provided an avenue for the SBC Committees to directly engage with the student body by posting updates, answering queries, and sharing the minutes of meetings.
The platform also housed the General Forums, a virtual town square that could be used to discuss any activity of interest that would have been a part of NALSAR life: creating topics for discussing the latest shows, recommending books, hosting events, and sharing pictures and memories. The General Forum became a space that was anything and everything users wanted it to be.
Building the platform, however, came with challenges. The development process took more than two months, with the entire system being built completely in-house with minimal resources. Despite these limitations, the platform successfully sustained the university’s academic and social interactions during a critical period.
After serving the university for close to two years—far beyond its intended lifespan of a semester—Forums ceased to receive active maintenance on September 15, 2022.
Over its two-year run, this platform saw 10,826 files uploaded, 552 Forums created (with 1,973 Topics and 11,401 Replies), and it served six LLB batches and two LLM batches across five semesters.
